Ancient Free and Accepted Order of Masons

LIBERTY - EQUALITY - FRATERNITY

Historical event in Georgia in 2015 On March 14, it happened - for the first time in the history of Georgia, the regular Grand Lodge of Georgia was founded, which is the only regular, legally established, union of symbolic lodges fully protecting Masonic landmarks (traditions) and actually functioning (Grand Lodge) throughout Georgia. The dignified (symbolic) lodges included in the Grand Lodge of Georgia are located in St. in Tbilisi, as well as in eastern and western Georgia. Worthy Lodges work in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Charter Rite as well as the French Charter Rite. The Grand Lodge of Georgia does not recognize other Masonic structures on the territory of Georgia.

History of the Masonic Order in Georgia 1921-1924. It was stopped when Georgia was occupied by the Russian Soviet Republic and after our homeland was forcibly joined the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was as absolutist as the medieval Catholic Church, royal families, or Nazi Germany, where freedom of speech and thought was a crime, so the Masonic order and the pursuit of freedom were forbidden.

In 1991, after the restoration of Georgia's independence, our motherland went through difficult economic, political and social historical stages, therefore, Masonic associations could not be created in the territory of Georgia at that time, there was neither time nor environment for that. Georgian citizens abroad became members of the Masonic Order in the hope that the day would come when a sovereign and national Grand Lodge would be established in Georgia.

In 1998-2003, the Grand Lodge of Russia, and after the 2008 Russia-Georgia war, the Grand Lodge of Armenia is trying to open lodges in Georgia. A number of Georgian brothers did not agree with the current processes and approaches, therefore, they held active negotiations with the Grand Lodge of Austria to bring light to Georgia. The Grand Master of Austria, Grand Secretary and Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite visited Georgia twice, under the auspices of founding a traveling lodge in Georgia. The organizing group of Georgian brothers (i.e. brothers who belonged to different Masonic jurisdictions, but at the same time actively tried to establish a Masonic sovereign and national dyad lodge in Georgia) simultaneously applied for support to the Dyad Lodge of Turkey, the Dyad Lodge of Lithuania and the Dyad Lodge of Ukraine on the recommendation of the Austrian Dyad Lodge.

In 2012, St. A Masonic meeting was held in Tbilisi, which was attended by several jurisdictions, a decision was made. A lodge for Georgians based in the east of Istanbul - "Prometheus" #1004, which later became St. was transferred to Batumi; St. The lodge for Georgians "St. George" #10, which was later transferred to St. In Tbilisi; Separately, at the initiative of Grand Lodge of Armenia St. Lodge for Georgians "Golden Fleece" #7, based in the east of Yerevan, which was later also transferred to St. The Lodge for Georgians founded by the Grand Lodge of Russia in Tbilisi "King Davit Agmashenebeli, st. in Moscow, which was later handed over to the members of the Grand Lodge of Georgia and transferred to St. In Tbilisi. Most of these lodges, in the future, were to become the foundation of the Grand Lodge of Georgia. However, later most of the Georgian brothers either left the mentioned lodges or there was a split. The Grand Lodge of Russia founded the Masonic District "Caucasus" and two lodges in St. In Tbilisi - "Saint Tamar King" and "George V Magnificent". In the same district, there was a lodge St. In Sokhumi - "Leon the Great". The initiative core of the Georgian brothers did everything to resolve the issue harmoniously and reach an agreement at the meetings of the Grand Lodges of Europe. Finally, the initiative group reached an agreement with the Grand Lodge of Russia and in March 2015, with the participation of three lodges and more than 21 Master Masons, the first and only legal Masonry was installed in Georgia. - Grand Lodge of Georgia. The Grand Lodge of Ukraine did not participate in the event, due to the political and war situation with Russia, the Grand Lodges of these two countries did not recognize each other since that year, as well as the Grand Lodges of Turkey and Armenia. Consensus did not take place, the principle worked - who will be the first to legally establish a grand lodge in the "empty territory", following the traditions.

In 2016, the Grand Lodge of Georgia revokes the mutual recognition of the Grand Lodge of Russia, due to the latter's attempt to grossly interfere in the domestic or international activities of the SDL, and elects a new Grand Master. In 2019, the National Assembly of the Grand Lodge of Georgia elected the third Grand Master in its history for a term of 3 years. In 2020, the Grand Lodge of Georgia celebrated the 5th anniversary of its foundation.

In 2017, the Grand Lodge of Georgia became one of the founders and members of the "Confederation of Freemasons of the Caucasus", and in 2018, it became an observer member of the "United Grand Lodges of Europe" and the "International Confederation of United Grand Lodges". In the same year, the Grand Lodge of Georgia signs a memorandum of cooperation with the "International Masonic Research Institute", whose representative office was opened in St. In Tbilisi. Since 2019, the Grand Lodge of Georgia is the co-founder and president of the "Alliance of Freemasons of the Black Sea Basin" for a term of 3 years. Grand Lodge of Georgia is recognized by regular Grand Lodges from almost all continents of the world.

After the reorganization and reformation of the symbolic lodges working under the umbrella of the Grand Lodge of Georgia, as of January 2021, 7 worthy lodges are included in the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge:

In 2017, with the decree and permission of the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Georgia and the agreement with the Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Charter of France, the admission of Master Masons, members of the Grand Lodge of Georgia, to the upper levels of the charter began. In 2020, the Lodge of Perfection of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite "Prometheus" will be founded at P245 st. In Tbilisi, in the near future, it is planned to establish the chapter of the charter and the Areopagus, which will be followed by the formation of the thirty-third and last degree Supreme Council of Freemasons of Georgia's Sovereign Ancient and Accepted Scottish Charter.

In 2018, with the decree and permission of the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Georgia, the Rose and Cross (Rosicrucian) and Royal Arch structures will be established in Georgia. An unprecedented decision was made by the English Rosicrucian Society - the joining of Georgian brothers and the establishment of a Rosicrucian lodge in Georgia.
